In July 2016, the non-profit organization Action Jeunesse de l’Ouest de l’Ile (AJOI) learns it will receive a grant valued at $15,000 from Fondation Québec Jeunes for their project l’Ancre de l’Ouest. This grant allows a support system through street outreach work to at risk youth and to those living in difficulty in the West Island.

The Fondation Québec Jeunes’ mission is to provide support through projects and resources helping youth, aged between 11 and 17 years old, transition into adulthood with ease. Their engagement may take form of financing community programs, advising organizations or calling for the prompt mobilization of the community. Therefore, the foundation acts as a catalyst in helping youth at risk or in difficulty.

Subsequently, AJOI and Fondation Québec Jeunes are an emblem of a candid alliance. AJOI’s mission is to establish and maintain street outreach work intervention services for youth aged 12 to 25 years old in the West Island. Since 2007, AJOI develops and offers preventative services concerning sexual health, drug awareness, homelessness and violence; facilitates the youths’ integration within the community through sociocultural activities and projects by and for the youth; prevents criminality and street gang memberships; and favours consultations and partnerships with neighbouring organizations of the West Island.
