Reaching an agreement with Toronto’s casino workers

The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCGC) and the union representing employees at numerous Ontario casinos have reached a tentative agreement to end the strike. The bargaining committees for the Great Blue Heron Casino, Casino Woodbine, Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands, Shorelines Casino Peterborough, Elements Casino Mohawk, and Elements Casino Brantford signed tentative agreements, according to an announcement from the union on August 5.

Since July 23, the casino employees in Ajax and Pickering have been on strike, with the Union fighting for an increment in their wages and for the business to reduce reliance on part-time employees. After negotiating new contracts, union employees at six other Great Canadian Gaming Corporation casinos in Ontario avoided a walkout last month. The new agreements include the most recent tentative agreement, which covers 1,830 Unifor employees at eight casinos.

The deal will impact members of Unifor who work in table games, slot machines, security, cashiers, catering, culinary and guest services, housekeeping, and maintenance.

The union claims that the bargaining teams prioritized pay, benefits, and pensions throughout negotiations while also attempting to turn part-time jobs into full-time ones. The goal of the union at the bargaining table is to share those earnings with the employees who contribute to the success of the casino industry.

It becomes obvious, due to this strike, that land-based casino still has room for improvement in terms of player needs and evolving gameplay. Since the strike began, punters have not been able to access casino games for some time at physical casinos, which highlights a better option: Canadian online casino sites.

With online casinos, Canadians can now play quality games from the comfort of their homes with the added benefit of being able to access all of their favourite titles to the wide range of gaming options available. Suffice to say, brick-and-mortar establishments can only do their best, but what punters really want is to play games whenever and wherever they want, ideally on their smartphones and tablets. Online casinos provide exactly that, with a wide range of gaming options from roulette and blackjack to hundreds of other games, making them an excellent choice in these trying times.

It is best for new customers to learn everything they can about their gaming interests with online casinos. It can be frustrating having to pay every time you play while you are still learning, especially when many online casinos provide a variety of options to help new players approach gambling with ease. This is usually in the form of promotional incentives such as welcome bonuses, free spins, deposit bonuses, and more. With these incentives which are typically available to both new and existing players on their platform, online casinos can ensure that players enjoy a lucrative gambling experience overall.

It is natural to assume switching your gaming to an online platform will be difficult, as this is a common assumption among most players who frequent land-based casinos. With the ongoing strike, many have now discovered the benefits of playing at a Canadian online casino and the ease of signing up. Despite being new, you will learn how to use the casino sites in no time.

Finally, online, and land-based casinos share many similar features, especially in terms of classic games like roulette, baccarat, slots, and others. The main disparity is the significant strides that online casinos have made in the quality of their services by adapting to ongoing technological advancements. Therefore, whether or not the strike is resolved, these online platforms may be the best option.
