Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre needs more supplies to be donated to help them battle COVID-19

TORONTO, ON., April 1, 2020 – As nurses, doctors, and other front-line health professionals combat COVID-19 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre they are putting the word out through social media channels saying they, “need equipment to keep us and our patients safe.”

The hospital is asking the community to donate unused & unopened masks, gowns, gloves, and eye protection to those who need it most.

Across Ontario, there is an impending shortage of this critical equipment in our hospitals and health-care settings. We need to act now.

N95 masks, in particular, are in scarce supply. If you have unopened boxes of N95 masks, please consider donating them to our front-line workers.

Those in the veterinary, construction, salon, tattoo, dentistry and cosmetic surgery industries may have access to this vital equipment.

Please note that they are unable to accept previously used masks, gowns, gloves or goggles, or unaddressed packages delivered by Canada Post.

It would be appreciated if donations could be clearly marked “Sunnybrook COVID-19 Donation.”

Sunnybrook says your generous donations can be dropped off at our Bayview Campus (2075 Bayview Avenue), at our D-Wing screening entrance between 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday to Friday.

And that proper precautions have been put in place to ensure safety during drop-off of supplies.

Questions about other potential items for donations or other inquiries? Please email foundation@sunnybrook.ca

There are also numerous other COVID-19 assessment centres in the region that can also use your help with donations. Visit toronto.ca to find the ones nearest you.
