“This holiday campaign was created by West Islanders, for West Islanders. It’s meant to inspire everyone to mobilize in support of West Island Community Shares so that, together, we can make a difference in the lives of residents in need,” said Leanne Bayer, Executive Director, West Island Community Shares.

The “Light Up Our Community” campaign was launched at the Plaza Pointe Claire with lead sponsor, the Caisses Desjardins de l’Ouest-de-l’Île, and more than 200 people from the community taking part. The festivities included a tree trimming contest. To see the photos of the trees and vote for your favourite one, visit www.communityshares.ca.

The St-Edmund School Glee Club also descended on the Plaza and won everyone’s hearts with their flash mob performance. Led by Choir Director Jennifer Harden, the Glee Club sang a selection of holiday songs combined with choreographed numbers.

The Beaconsfield High School Band also performed and the festivities ended with the lighting of the Plaza Pointe Claire outdoor tree with cookies and hot apple cider for all!

West Island Community Shares is a fundraising organization that currently supports 40 local community groups.
