Chantal Kreviazuk unveils bold new project with her own rendition of a song co-written with Drake

TORONTO, October 3, 2025 — Globally renowned Canadian artist Chantal Kreviazuk is bringing her songwriting legacy full circle. The Platinum-selling, GRAMMY & JUNO Award–winning artist and internationally acclaimed songwriter unveils a bold new project, one that reimagines the chart-topping hits she’s penned for other artists, now reclaimed in her own voice.

The project launches with Chantal’s rendition of “Over My Dead Body,” the atmospheric opening track from Drake’s landmark 2011 album Take Care, which she co-wrote alongside Drake and Noah “40” Shebib. Released as her first single under a newly inked deal with Wax Records, the track lands amid a viral surge of fan demand after a teaser clip blew past 2 million views, sparking a cultural ripple that’s united loyal fans and new audiences around her unmistakable impact on today’s pop and hip-hop landscape. Listen to “Over My Dead Body” HERE.

Where Drake’s original set the tone for a generation of introspective hip-hop, Kreviazuk’s interpretation pulls the song back to its core emotion – a stirring, piano-driven performance that showcases the aching beauty and nuance of her voice. Stripped of its original production and rebuilt with her signature touch, it unfolds like a confessional: intimate, cinematic, and profoundly human. It’s a powerful reimagining from an artist who has spent decades shaping the emotional DNA of pop music.

Kreviazuk‘s new project launches with Chantal’s rendition of “Over My Dead Body,” the atmospheric opening track from Drake’s landmark 2011 album Take Care, which she co-wrote alongside Drake and Noah “40” Shebib.

“It was a magical time,” recalls Kreviazuk. “We were so young, crashing into each other’s wild energy – me, Drake, 40, the whole cast at the studio. I knew the song was special; I kept nudging to make sure it stayed in play. Drake is such a focused collaborator, and he and 40 trusted each other completely. It felt like I’d stepped into one of the great creative partnerships. So much laughter, and so much magic in the process. By far my favourite writing session ever.”

For Kreviazuk, returning to the track more than a decade later carries both nostalgia and reverence – a chance to honour the creative spark that helped define an era, while adding the depth and perspective that only time can bring.

“This reaction has been humbling and validating,” she shares. “It feels good to finally sing it and live it. It’s been some years; I hope I’ve earned it. I would never want to take away from the genius of Drake and 40 – it was the opportunity of my career to work in that space. I literally felt like I was in the room with the future. I knew it then, and I’m pinching myself now.”

The project will continue later this fall with her take on “Feel This Moment”, the global smash she co-wrote for Pitbull and Christina Aguilera, with additional reinterpretations from her star-studded catalogue, including songs from Kendrick LamarBritney Spears, and Kelly Clarkson.

Fresh off her Western Canadian Music Awards Hall of Fame induction and ahead of her performance at the Songwriters Hall of Fame LEGENDS event on October 17, Kreviazuk continues to bridge timeless artistry with present-day resonance – reaffirming her status as one of music’s most influential and enduring voices.
