Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport, has captivated millions of fans worldwide with its dramatic races and iconic circuits. While the sport has always had a strong fan base and the Canadian Grand Prix has been a long-standing fixture on the calendar, a new study has revealed that interest in Canada is reaching new heights.
A study conducted on behalf of Tooniebet, a Canadian sports and entertainment platform, analyzed Google search data for F1-related terms like “Canadian Grand Prix,” “2025 Formula 1,” and “Cadillac Formula 1.” It compared search volumes to 2025 population figures to uncover which provinces and territories are the most interested in the sport. This article delves deeper into the results and highlights the regions that live and breathe F1.
Provinces and Territories With the Most Interest in F1
According to the study, the following are the top five regions with the most interest in F1:
1. British Columbia
British Columbia tops the list in F1 search interest with a remarkable 2,069 monthly searches per 100,000 residents, which is a staggering 81.7% above the national average of 1,139. With a population of over 5.6 million, it recorded a total of 116,810 monthly searches.
2. Alberta
Alberta logged 1,624 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. While this is 42.6% above the national average, it’s still significantly behind British Columbia. Alberta’s population of approximately 4.8 million contributed 78,770 monthly searches.
3. Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia ranks surprisingly high in search interest, with an average of 1,477 monthly searches per 100,000 residents (29.7% above the national average). With a population of just over 1 million, it accounted for 15,840 monthly searches.
4. Northwest Territories
Northwest Territories ranks fourth with 1,313 monthly searches per 100,000 residents, which is 15.3% above the national average. With a population of 44,920, this translates to 590 monthly searches, which is a notable amount for a region with a small population.
5. Manitoba
Manitoba, with a population of around 1.5 million, ranks fifth with 1,296 searches per 100,000 residents, which is 13.8% higher than the national average. The province registered 19,230 monthly searches.

Other Provinces and Territories in the Top 10
The following regions rounded out the list:
- Yukon ranks 6th with an average of 1,246 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
- New Brunswick ranks 7th with 1,235 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
- Prince Edward Island ranks 8th with 1,180 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
- Saskatchewan ranks 9th with 1,048 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
- Newfoundland and Labrador ranks 10th with 870 monthly searches per 100,000 residents.
Final Thoughts
While British Columbia and Alberta naturally dominate the search rankings due to their populations, smaller provinces and territories like Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba are showing intriguing levels of interest. Ontario’s population is by far the largest in Canada, but it lags behind with just 381 monthly searches per 100,000 residents, which is the lowest among all provinces analyzed. However, this relatively low interest may reflect its population’s broader range of interests rather than a lack of enthusiasm for F1.
With the 2025 season coming to a close and Cadillac joining the grid next year, it’s clear that interest in F1 is becoming increasingly widespread. The results of this study paint an exciting picture for F1 in Canada. Canadians are hungry for F1 news, and the search data suggests that the sport’s future in the country is looking brighter than ever.
