TORONTO, January 23, 2026 — The Toronto Maple Leafs are taking their free outdoor practice festivities indoors this year due to frigid temperatures forecast for this weekend. The outdoor practice event was originally scheduled from Saturday, January 24 to Monday, January 26 at the Westway Outdoor Rink. Instead, the beloved blue and white will now host an Open Practice presented by Sport Chek at Mattamy Athletic Centre at Maple Leaf Gardens on Monday, January 26.
This free event will mark only the third time the Maple Leafs will return for an event at the site of Maple Leaf Gardens, the storied franchise’s home for 68 seasons prior to their move to Air Canada Centre in 1999.
Coincidentally, the old Maple Leaf Gardens also served as the first venue in Toronto to consistently host world-championship-calibre pro wrestling. The Leafs have recently partnered with WWE for this event and fans in attendance will have the opportunity to engage with this history as WWE Superstars support Maple Leafs players through a 3-on-3 tournament.

We are not saying this will happen but sometimes when the Leafs host their public outdoor practice, they have been caught taking the TTC subway to Queen and Yonge. Don’t be surprised if you see them disembarking at College on Monday morning. There is nothing confirmed, but you never know!
How can fans attend this free event?
Fans can sign up for the chance to win free, general admission passes on Friday, January 23 from 10am to 10pm ET via Fan Access on the Maple Leafs App. Winners will be drawn and notified by 12am ET on Saturday, January 24.
