TORONTO, January 14, 2026 — Ongoing weekend GO train travel along the Lakeshore West line continues to be interrupted for the next two weekends, making getting downtown for leisure activities that much more complicated… again. GO transit has released a statement explaining that starting on Saturday, January 17, Lakeshore West Line rail service will be temporarily modified for two weekends until end of service on Sunday, January 25, to accommodate critical track work. GO says “these track closures are required to make essential improvements to bring you better, faster and more frequent trips.”
Here is why the GO train won’t be running between Oakville and Mimico for the next two weekends
Crews are performing work to fully replace the Etobicoke Creek bridge and the work can only be completed when train service is modified. Please see below:

During this time, there will be no GO train service between Oakville and Mimico GO.
Lakeshore West train service will run all stops between Niagara Falls and Oakville GO.
Special trains will run on an hourly schedule between Mimico GO and Union Station.
- GO replacement buses will operate at Oakville and Clarkson GO stations, then run express to Union Station Bus Terminal.
- There will be no GO Transit service to or from Port Credit, Long Branch or west from Mimico GO. Customers traveling to and from those stations are encouraged to use local transit options like the TTC.
On Friday, January 16, there will also be some late-night service adjustments.
More information about Lakeshore West Line service adjustments and alternate route options is available HERE.
GO customers are encouraged to sign up for On the GO Alerts to receive real-time updates about trip schedules, delays, or disruptions.
Regular service will resume on Monday, January 19. As trackwork continues, Lakeshore West service will also be adjusted next weekend from January 24-25, 2026
Riders can transfer for free with One Fare between GO Transit and most local agencies, including the TTC. Customers are encouraged to use gotransit.com to plan their trips. You can also check the GO Transit Service Updates page for real-time details.
