GOLDEN, B.C – Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, known for one of North America’s biggest verticals and epic champagne powder terrain, has been pummelled by the storm track that has been hammering the Powder Highway this week
“Opening day is truly a resort-wide effort,” said Richard Oszust, General Manager for Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. “We’re so grateful for their dedication and the countless hours they’ve put in to get the lifts turning. It’s a special day when all that preparation comes together, and we can finally kick off the winter season along the famed Powder Highway. We’re all fired up to see our passholders and guests making their first turns of the year!”

Very exciting to announce that Kicking Horse has confirmed their opening day for this Friday, December 12th. And it will be well worth the wait. We are in the middle of a significant series of storm systems scheduled to hit this week and into next. In the last 48 hours, we had 30 cm, and the resort has had a staggering 271 cm of total snowfall to date.
As of now, they expect Crystal Bowl to be open with excellent conditions up high, and very good conditions through the mid-mountain, and good conditions from Catamount Chair to the base. A more detailed terrain availability plan will be shared on Thursday after this next weather system moves through.
