Strong wind gusts and hail also possible
At 1:38 PM EDT Sunday 14 July 2024, Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the GTA on Sunday afternoon. The Hamilton area could see the worst of this storm but it looks like it is going to track across the GTA.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and damaging hail.,” reads the warning from ECCC.
Hazards: Strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h. Nickel sized hail.
Timing: This afternoon.

A line of thunderstorms is moving through southwestern Ontario this afternoon. These storms are expected to dissipate in the early evening. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
