Snowfall Warning Issued for Toronto on Friday

TORONTO, December 25, 2025 — Environment and Climate Change Canada have issued a Yellow Status (the most common) Snowfall Warning for the GTA on Friday. ECCC says we can expect up to 12 cm of snow with the first flakes starting late morning on Friday, December 25, 2025. A Yellow Status warning means Hazardous weather may cause damage, disruption, or health impacts.

ECCC says the brunt of the heavier snowfall is expected on Friday afternoon, posing driving and walking challenges.

Just the Details from ECCC

When: Friday midday into Friday evening.

Additional information: Snow is expected to begin late Friday morning and then move eastward through Friday evening.

Snow will become locally heavy at times on Friday afternoon, resulting in areas of reduced visibility. There remains some uncertainty regarding the track of the low-pressure system, which may impact the eastern edge of the significant snowfall area.

Travel will likely be challenging. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will likely be reduced at times. Allow extra time for travel.

What is a Yellow Status Weather Warning?

The Government of Canada has introduced colour-coded weather alerts. The colours tell you what risk the weather is to you. Every type of weather alert—Warnings, Advisories, and Watches—now has a colour when it is issued. The weather alert colours move from yellow, to orange, to red, as the potential risk increases. A Yellow Status warning means Hazardous weather may cause damage, disruption, or health impacts. Impacts are moderate, localized and/or short-term. Yellow alerts are the most common.
