TORONTO, November 26, 2025 — Strong winds continue Wednesday night into Thursday as Environment and Climate Change Canada issues a Special Weather Statement for Toronto and surrounding areas. ECCC has released a statement indicating that lake effect snow is expected on Thursday, along with strong winds gusting 70 to 80 km/h. However, snow accumulations are not expected to be significant (whatever that means).
Drivers can expect reduced visibility in snow and local blowing snow on Thursday starting in the afternoon and ending late night or early Friday.
Additional information from ECCC:
Strong southwest winds will shift to the west tonight and then to the northwest Thursday afternoon or evening. In addition, lake effect snow may move through the area Thursday afternoon and evening. Snowfall accumulations are not expected to be significant, but visibility may be reduced in snow and local blowing snow. Local utility outages are possible.
Winds affecting taller vehicles
High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
