Sunday Afternoon Concert at HUGH’S ROOM IS CANCELLED due to Snow Storm

“HEROES ON THE AIR”, Presented by the RCAF Foundation – SUNDAY, JANUARY 25  – CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS

TORONTO, January 25, 2026 — An important date – the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) was scheduled to be celebrated by the RCAF Foundation – Sunday, January 25, at a matinee performance in Hugh’s Room’s Green Sanderson Hall. Due to the snow storm descending on Toronto today, the concert has been cancelled.

Sara Moyle (Writer, Heroes on the Air) says: “As a playwright, telling the true stories of heroes in the RCAF, I wanted to create a time capsule experience for the audience, bringing them back to the gold age of radio. You are no longer reading about someone; instead, their story is animated in your ear. It’s live with sound. You’re in the moment, you’re experiencing it, you’re feeling it. It brings a different sensitivity to the listener and humanizes the experience of the heroes. Before movies on your phone, before the internet, and before television, families gathered in front of the radio and stared at a little glowing light and listened to radio dramas at the same night every week. What we’re doing showing what’s happening behind that glowing light.”

Jeremy Diamond (CEO, RCAF Foundation) describes the afternoon: “Heroes on the Air is a powerful live stage performance that brings Canada’s aviation history to life through music, storytelling, and dramatic visuals. Honouring the courage, sacrifice, and innovation of Royal Canadian Air Force heroes, and developed and produced by the RCAF Foundation and award-winning musician and writer, Jason Wilson (who also hosts the afternoon) this immersive show takes audiences on an emotional journey from the early days of flight to modern missions at home and abroad, all in the style of ‘old time radio”.
Featuring dynamic performances from five talented actors (who portray more than thirty RCAF heroes), authentic historical moments, inspiring narratives of service and resilience, (and a few laughs!), Heroes on the Air celebrates the men and women who soared beyond limits to defend freedom and shape Canada’s legacy in the skies.
