TORONTO, October 9, 2024 – Today, national nonprofit motionball for Special Olympics announced its inaugural Daniel Nestor Pickleball Social, taking place on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the premier athletic centre, 10XTO, located at Hotel X Toronto.
Hosted by Canadian Professional Tennis Star Daniel Nestor and motionball Co-Founder Paul Etherington, the Pickleball Social will welcome corporate teams, professional athletes, Canadian media personalities and Special Olympics athletes for an evening of pickleball, cornhole, giant pong and more, all in support of motionball for Special Olympics & The Daniel Nestor Foundation.
“Having been to many of motionball’s galas and seen how motionball rallies around Special Olympics Athletes, it’s truly inspiring, and I wanted to get more involved, “ said Daniel Nestor. “ I love the communal aspect of the game, and it’ll be fun to see local celebs come out for a day of friendly competition and hopefully be inspired like I was to do more for athletes and raise funds for two amazing causes.”
Ahead of the event, registered teams will fundraise leading up to the exclusive Draft Day on November 20, motionball’s #NoGoodWay Day. Leading teams will have the opportunity to take the first pick of their celebrity teammate. Twenty-four teams will then take to the courts, each with their drafted celebrity teammate and an all-star Special Olympics athlete to play at the first annual Daniel Nestor Pickleball Social.
Registration is now open at motionball.com/pickleball. Each team will pay a $5,000 event fee and can raise more money to advance their team on the leaderboard during the celebrity draft.
