The 2026 Canadian International AutoShow Releases Key Industry Insights, Ticket Launch

Here’s what’s happening at this year’s AutoShow!

TORONTO, December 1, 2025 — A survey conducted by the Canadian International AutoShow found that the majority of respondents oppose Canada phasing out the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035. This comes as the federal government signals that possible changes to its electric-vehicle sales mandate are coming this winter.

A recent poll of 1,202 AutoShow Insider panellists found:

  • 68% of respondents oppose the proposed federal target for 100% zero-emission new light-duty car and passenger trucks sales by 2035.

When asked what type of vehicle they are most likely to purchase next:

  • 47% said a traditional gas option
  • 30% said a non-plug-in hybrid
  • 11% said a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV)
  • 10% said a battery electric vehicle

These results indicate that consumer choice, across a range of powertrains and price points, remains a top priority for drivers. It is the basis for this year’s theme, Driven by Choice, which highlights the unprecedented variety of brands, technologies and experiences on display at the 2026 AutoShow.

Tickets are on sale now, with the 2026 AutoShow, taking place from February 13th to 22nd at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

What to look forward to this year

The 2026 AutoShow will showcase the most comprehensive collection of manufacturer brand displays of any auto show in North America with participation from Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, FIAT, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, INFINITI, Kia, Lexus, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Polestar, RAM, Subaru, Toyota, Volvo, and more. Additionally, Grand Touring Automobiles and Pfaff Automotive will showcase an array of ultra-luxury and high-performance brands, further expanding the AutoShow’s brand lineup and making the event a must-see for auto enthusiasts and shoppers alike.

“The findings of this study help us better understand what consumers are looking for when it comes to product availability and government regulations here in Canada. It is interesting to see how views on key topics around the auto sector are evolving, and it helps us make sure we are delivering what consumers want.” says Jason Campbell, General Manager of the AutoShow.

Feature Displays

Feature displays are one of the defining elements that make Canada’s AutoShow stand out both nationally and internationally, with many exciting experiences planned for the 2026 Canadian International AutoShow:

  • An all-new feature display called “The Vault” transforms the 100 Level of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre into the ultimate destination for classic muscle cars, hot rods, and resto mods.
  • Multi-million dollar exotics and rare hypercars will be showcased thanks to partners such as Autostrada Magazine, Grand Touring Automobiles, and Pfaff Automotive as part of “The Exotica Tour”.
  • Family-friendly displays will include a life-size replica car from The LEGO Group in addition to an interactive Play Zone
  • Test drives and rides remain a key focus, with consumers able to get behind the wheel on Canada’s largest indoor EV Test Track, at multiple outdoor test drive locations, and with the popular off-road experience Camp Jeepoffering ride-alongs.

More feature displays and content details will be shared closer to February’s AutoShow.

“When we say Driven by Choice is our theme for 2026, it’s more than just a slogan,” says David McClean, Director of Marketing Services for the Canadian International AutoShow. “It reflects our guiding principle- to provide the widest range of brands, vehicle types, and experiences anywhere in Canada. We want every visitor to see themselves represented and inspired by what’s on display.”
