The Bentway Skate Trail Season Extended to March

TORONTO, February 12, 2026 – When winter decides it’s not done with us yet, public space has to get creative. Following a strong start to the season and continued public enthusiasm, The Bentway is extending its skating season and keeping the city moving a little longer. The Bentway is thrilled to announce that its popular figure-eight outdoor Skate Trail will remain open through Sunday, March 8, giving skaters more time to glide beneath the Gardiner Expressway and enjoy one of Toronto’s most iconic winter experiences.

“This year Toronto made it clear that we’re not ready to pack away our skates just yet,” said Ilana Altman, CEO of The Bentway. “We’re excited to extend the Skate Trail so people can continue to make the most of the season and experience the city and all winter has to offer in a uniquely Canadian way.”

Since opening in December, The Bentway has welcomed visitors, families, friends, daily skaters, and first-timers, reaffirming its place as a beloved winter destination and neighbourhood connector.

Help extend The Bentway Skate Season

For many, The Bentway Skate Trail is more than a place to glide – it’s a winter meeting spot, a daily ritual, and a connector between neighbourhoods. Often, people don’t realize that The Bentway is an independent, not-for-profit organization and registered charity. Stretching beneath the Gardiner Expressway, the Skate Trail is powered by residents, skaters, families, and supporters like you who believe in the value of shared public spaces.

This year, The Betway team is working to keep the Skate Trail open for longer, which takes additional resources, from increased maintenance to staffing and operations. Your donation helps make those extra days on the ice possible

Donate today to play a vital role in supporting the trail extension and bringing people together for more days this winter.
