Top 3 Staycation Attractions in Toronto

Travelling abroad is becoming even more inconvenient and expensive, not to mention how bad air travel is for the environment. This is leading to more and more people taking “staycations” here in our beautiful city. And why wouldn’t you? Toronto is an amazingly vibrant and diverse city with plenty of attractions for you to enjoy. Whether you’re out for dinner and a show in the Entertainment District or taking a tour around the historic Distillery District, you’ll be sure to have a good time.

The centre is really easy to get around, with so many of the must-see spots within walking distance of one another. For those that are a little bit further afield, there is a fantastic subway system that will get you where you need to go. If you’ve been sold on the idea of a Toronto staycation, stick around to see the top 3 staycation attractions you need to check out.

CN Tower

An obvious candidate for our list, Toronto’s most famous landmark is an absolute must-see for anyone on a staycation. Standing at 553 meters tall, you can see the CN Tower from pretty much everywhere in the city. While you can get a sense of truly how massive it is by standing below it and admiring its majesty, the best way to experience it is to make your way to the Sky Pod – the highest viewing area in the tower. At 447 meters above the ground, on a clear day, you can see Niagara Falls and New York State. For the more adventurous among you, there is an “Edge Walk” which takes you on the outside of the tower. While attached to a safety harness, you walk around the outside of the main pod on a 1.5-meter-wide ledge – you definitely need a head for heights! If fine dining is more your speed, there is the 360 Restaurant which offers a revolving view of Toronto for some of the best views in the city. If you’re here in the winter, you could even experience the annual Toronto CN Tower New Year’s Eve Party!

Niagara Falls

While most of us only live an hour’s drive from the spectacular Niagara Falls, many of us don’t take the time to go out there and experience its beauty in person. From the centre of a bustling city to the edge of one of the most famous waterfalls in just over an hour – how many cities can lay claim to that? It’s close enough that you can experience it as a day trip though it’s the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. There’s plenty to do once you’re at the Falls, including the world-famous Maid of the Mist boat tour – though do expect to get wet as they take you very close to the Falls! For those with a little more cash to spend, you can even take a helicopter ride over the falls and experience its beauty from above. Once you’ve experienced everything the Falls has to offer, why not visit the beautiful town of Niagara-on-the-Lake or check out the Whirlpool Rapids? There are loads of amazing places to visit around Niagara – you would probably need a full vacation to experience them all!

Entertainment District

The Entertainment District in Toronto is a large one, covering most of the city center and hosting many of the city’s best attractions like the CN Tower, the Rogers Centre, and the Scotiabank Arena. It’s also well known for a fantastic array of restaurants and has stunning nightlife with plenty of shows and fantastic casinos! However, sometimes you want to experience the thrill of playing in a casino in the Entertainment District without having to deal with the hustle and bustle of getting downtown. There are a host of online casino options that can give you a fully immersive casino experience even from as far away as New Zealand. With plenty of games on offer, such as online slots and video poker, you can play any game that you would play in a regular casino. The best sites even have generous welcome offers to give you even more value for money. However, it can be hard to find the site that’s best for you, which is why it’s important to read casino reviews to determine which online casinos have the features you’re looking for. You can even enjoy these online casinos while out having a meal and enjoying the atmosphere of the Entertainment District!

Toronto is such an amazing city and there are countless more staycation ideas and attractions that we could have included in this list. If you’ve never had the chance to act like a tourist in your own city, then save the money on airfare and use it to experience Toronto like you never have before!
