Toronto Celebrates 23 Years of The Female Eye Festival

Sharing perspectives of women through film, this year FeFF showcases over 70 films

TORONTO, September 27, 2025 — The Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF), Always Honest, Not Always Pretty, celebrates its 23rd edition Oct 14 – Oct 19, 2025 at TIFF Lightbox, 350 King St W (Toronto, ON) with curated group Photo Exhibition VIP Opening Night Reception at The Women’s Art Association of Canada, 23 Prince Arthur Ave (Toronto, ON) Oct 14, 6-11pm. Tickets $20. Flex Pass $80. 

Sharing perspectives of women through documentary, feature, experimental, animation and short films, this year FeFF showcases over 70 films from across North America, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, France, Cuba, Nepal, Syria, Taiwan and more, followed by audience Q & A’s.

FeFF’s 2025 theme is RESILIENCE! At a time of global suffering, Female Eye reminds us there’s hope and strength, curating an inaugural Children’s Film Program with Enchanted Hope Foundation, offering magical experiences for children with serious illnesses. Award-winning kid’s films with door prizes and giveaways. Oct 17, 6-8pm. City Playhouse, 1000 New Westminster Dr, (Thornhill, ON) Tickets $20.

Script Reading Series

In addition to screenings are industry events like the Script Reading Series, the Live Pitch($1500 cash prize)Best in the Biz Honorary Maverick Tribute & Award honoring Jennifer Podemski from The Rez and Little Bird. Far ahead of the industry curve, Jennifer’s mission is longstanding – to represent stories and give prominence to Indigenous peoples in film and television. Look forward to this intimate conversation with Podemski at TIFF Lightbox Oct 16, 3-4:30pm. Tickets $20.

Opening Night Screenings kick off Oct 15 at 6pm with GALA FEATURE BLUEBERRY GRUNT directed by Sherry White of Pretty Hard Cases and Maudie fame. A couple, seemingly at odds, embark on a camping trip that quickly unravels the seams of their partnership and forces them into a fight for survival. Starring Joel Thomas Hynes, Liisa Repo-Martell and Percy Hynes White.

Late Night Thrills and Chills

FeFF’s ever popular LATE NIGHT THRILLS & CHILLS programs will keep you on the edge of your seat. An eclectic program of horror, thriller and suspense proves women do it better! TIFF Lightbox Fri Oct 17, 9pm & Sat Oct 18, 9:30pm.

CLOSING GALA FEATURE at TIFF Lightbox, Sun Oct 19 at 6:15pm with “I REALLY LOVE MY HUSBAND” directed by GG HawkinsWhen a woman grows disillusioned with her golden-boy husband during their tropical honeymoon, she recruits an enigmatic expat to spice things up—for better or worse. Starring Madison Lanesey, Arta Gee and Travis Quentin Young.

Writers Lab Canada

Coming Soon! THE WRITERS LAB CANADA celebrates its second year Feb 2026! TWL Canada is produced in partnership with TWL (NYC), the Firecracker Department and the Female Eye Film Festival.
