TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2022 – It’s that magical time of year again at Union! Today, Mayor John Tory was joined by Lawrence Zucker, President and CEO of Osmington and Michael Armstrong, Vice President, Brand & Corporate Sponsorships at TD Bank Group to launch Union Winter – Presented by TD at Union Station.

Starting today, Union Station is once again the ultimate destination for the holidays. Union Winter – Presented by TD will help Torontonians and visitors enjoy local festive fun throughout the early winter months. Guests can experience everything from musical performances with special guests, to unique holiday shopping, dining with friends and free ice skating with an incredible view of the CN Tower.

“Union Station is one of Toronto’s most iconic buildings and one of the busiest transit hubs in Canada. I am happy to see that Union Winter is back this year, giving Torontonians an exciting opportunity to get out and enjoy our city through the winter season. I encourage everyone to come and enjoy the skating rink, musical performances, and support the incredible local businesses we now have in the station.” – Mayor John Tory

From now through January 29, 2023, visitors can enjoy a quintessentially Canadian skating experience on Union Station’s biggest ice surface to date. Skaters can register in advance at TorontoUnion.ca/TDUnionWinter  to secure a time slot or stop in to snag a walk-up spot,” said Lawrence Zucker, President and CEO, Osmington. “We’re thrilled to be bringing back Union Winter, once again, creating a hub for connectivity in the city. We hope that people coming for a skate will also explore everything the newly renovated station has to offer including art, brand new retailers and a food court that showcases the diverse flavours of this great city,” said Zucker.

Union Winter is offering free skate rentals all season long, plus free skating lessons once a week for those looking to brush up on their technique or learn to skate for the first time. The rink will be open daily Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The rink will be closed on December 25 and 26 for Christmas and Boxing Day.

“TD is proud to continue to support Union Station and the Union Winter event series. This collaboration between the City of Toronto, Union Station and TD is a remarkable opportunity to help bring the community together this winter, supporting Canadian artists and creators, local businesses and fellow neighbours, said Betsey Chung, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer. “TD It’s part of our TD framework to help provide legendary experiences and enrich the lives of our customers, colleagues and communities,” added Chung.

Additional programming includes Union Beats Skate Nights with DJs performing live rink-side on Friday and Saturday evenings in December and January and special musical performances inside Union Station during the month of December. On Tuesday, December 13, there will be a special performance inside the station by Shawn Desman, one of Canada’s biggest success stories. Residents and visitors are invited to lace up their dancing shoes and join the celebration.

To celebrate the return of the Union Winter and to help support the community, Union Station and TD are collectively donating up to $10,000 to Casey House through engagement on Union Station’s Instagram account, at @torontounion . Each ‘tag a friend’ on the respective charitable post will trigger a $5 donation from Union Station and TD, whereas a share of the post in their Instagram story will result in Union Station and TD contributing a $10 donation.

In 2009, Osmington (Union Station) Inc., a subsidiary of Osmington Inc., entered into a 75-year lease agreement with the City of Toronto to become the retail developer of Union Station. Union Station is one of Canada’s busiest transit hubs, serving over 300,000 visitors per day pre-pandemic.
