Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre opens for Winter Fun in 2026

TORONTO, January 7, 2026 —The City of Toronto opens the Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre for the 2026 winter season today, welcoming residents and visitors back to the slopes. The season begins January 7, 2026 and is scheduled to run through Sunday, March 22, weather and slope conditions permitting.

Where is Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre?

Located in the heart of North York, the Centre offers residents an opportunity to enjoy skiing and snowboarding closer to home, and near public transit. It also offers affordable rates with lift ticket prices ranging from $21.29 to $40.65.

The facility provides a range of programming for all ages, including beginner lessons, advanced instruction, and access to both beginner hills and full runs for the more experienced. Helmets are required for all participants registered in lessons and are recommended for patrons of all ages.

“It’s fantastic to have skiing and snowboarding right in the heart of the city. I taught my two granddaughters to ski at Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre,” said Mayor Olivia Chow. “It’s an exciting and healthy way to enjoy the winter outdoors. I encourage everyone to come experience it and make the most of our city’s winter activities.”

Full details, including information about hours of operation, lift tickets, passes and rental equipment, can be found on the Earl Bales webpage.

From Wednesday, January 7, the main and beginner hills will be open, with the south and race hills remaining closed temporarily as crews work to build snow. Lessons are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 21.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead by checking the Centre’s webpage before visiting, as daily operations are dependent on weather and snowfall.

“The reopening of Earl Bales is a great boost for our community, offering residents an affordable way to stay active, enjoy winter outdoors and connect with neighbours. This Centre has long been a gathering place for families, and I can’t wait to hit the slopes for another season,” said Councillor James Pasternak (York Centre).

More ways to play this winter

While skiing and snowboarding have participation fees, the City also offers many free winter recreation programs and activities that can be found on the City’s Ice and Snow activities webpage.

There are still some spaces for residents to register for the City’s regular winter recreation programs.
