Look to Toronto’s skies Thursday afternoon August 1 for Italian Air Force Fly Over
TORONTO, July 30, 2024 – The Canadian International Air Show does not air until Labour Day weekend but Toronto aviation fans are in for a special treat this week! The Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) are in North America for the first time in over 30 years and they are landing in Toronto to deliver an extra special fly over along Toronto’s waterfront on Thursday!
Frecce Tricolori
Their North American tour began in June and has them heading back to Italy before the Canadian International Air Show, but as a special treat they will be thrilling Toronto onlookers a month early! The Frecce Tricolori were last in Toronto in 1986 for the Canadian International Air Show. As part of their journey, the renowned Italian jet demonstration team, the “Frecce Tricolori”, will be flying over the Toronto skyline on August 1, 2024 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Royal Canadian Air Force turns 100
Although, due to scheduling constraints, they will depart North America before this year’s Canadian International Air Show, the Frecce Tricolori will take to Toronto’s skies coinciding with the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 100th Anniversary.
“We are thrilled to have the Italian Frecce Tricolori team fly over Toronto again. They were last in our city for the 1986 Canadian International Air Show (CIAS). While we are disappointed they can’t stay for the 75th anniversary of the CIAS we know Torontonians will be in for a treat to see the 10 jet flying the green, white and red colours over the city,” said Lori Duthie Executive Director, Canadian International Air Show.
Their North American Tour showcases the capabilities of Italy’s highly technological and forward-thinking Air Force.
“Our personnel and cutting-edge equipment can be rapidly deployed anywhere in the world, ensuring our ability to operate effectively in any global location,” says Colonel Stefano Pietropaoli of the Aeronautica Militare. “We are excited to return to Toronto after 38 years, flying the Frecce over the skyline.”
