Steampunk is a fascinating cultural subgenre, which combines elements of Science Fiction, 19th Century steam-powered machinery, and Victorian and Gothic fashions – and, of course, an opportunity for Steampunkers to mingle about in their striking attire. Gorgeous corset dresses, vintage three-piece suits, accessorised top hats, DIY jewellery, parasols, and walking sticks are all part of the mix. For Steampunkers Everyday Is Hallowe’en.

About the Toronto Steampunk Society
The Toronto Steampunk Society (TSS) community group serves Steampunk enthusiasts across the GTA and beyond.
It provides a welcoming, safe and social environment on facebook for the enjoyment of the increasingly popular Steampunk culture – which merges elements of Sci-Fi with 19th Century steam-powered engines, Ragtime era bands, and of course Victorian/Gothic fashions (elegant corset dresses, parasols, DIY jewelry, vintage 3-piece suits, walking sticks, fancy Top Hats, etc.) in a retro/futuristic manner.

TSS (circa 2011) takes part in numerous Toronto conventions each year, helps spread the word about places to shop for Steampunk clothing and accessories, and publicizes events like the Annex Steampunk Movember fundraiser – tomorrow (November 1), from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Tranzac Club, 292 Brunswick Ave., bringing together fans, artisans and artists for a fun night of costumes, games, and prizes, all in the name of a good cause.
