Journey to Conquer Cancer 2024: Complete schedule for massive Princess Margaret Cancer Centre fundraiser

TORONTO, June 11, 2024 – The Journey to Conquer Cancer, presented by Starlight Investments, celebrates its 11th year on June 16th. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., thousands of participants of all ages and athletic abilities will participate in this family and dog-friendly event to raise funds for world-leading cancer research and clinical care at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top five cancer research centres in the world.

Starting at University of Toronto, Back Campus Fields, participants will walk or run 1 km, 3 km, or 5 km through Queen’s Park circle in downtown Toronto passing by the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. There will be pit-stops and live entertainment along the way for a fun-filled day of community, family, and fun. The Princess Margaret has also provided an option to participate in their neighbourhoods if they cannot attend in person.

To keep participants and spectators/helpers informed, here are all the details about how Journey to Conquer Cancer, presented by Starlight Investments will unfold this year.

The Journey to Conquer Cancer, presented by Starlight Investments, celebrates its 11th year on June 16th.

WHEN:                        Sunday, June 16, 2024

  • 8:00 a.m. — Participants start arriving
  • 9:30 a.m. – Opening Ceremonies Commence
  • 10:00 a.m. – Runners/Walkers Start
  • 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Breakfast and After Party
  • 11:20 a.m. – Kids Run
  • 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Closing Ceremonies 

WHERE:              University of Toronto, Back Campus Fields
                                20 Tower Rd., Toronto, ON, M5S 2E5

WHAT:                       The 11th  Journey to Conquer Cancer

  • Participants will begin arriving at 8 a.m.
  • Family-friendly breakfast will begin at 10:30 a.m.
  • Kids Run (with capes!) will begin at 11:20 a.m.
  • Celebratory activities for all throughout the route
  • Meet “Hope” Journey dog mascot

  • Brandon Throop, High-grade B-Cell Lymphoma cancer survivor and 2024 Opening Ceremonies Speaker 
  • Miyo Yamashita, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation
  • Steve Merker, Vice President of Corporate and Community Partnerships, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation
  • Multiple Myeloma Support Group celebrating their 20th Anniversary of the MM5K Walk (The Multiple Myeloma: M-Moving Together Toward the Cure) supporting Cancer Research and Care for Multiple Myeloma at Princess Margaret

Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada. In fact, 2 in 5 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.  Researchers and clinicians at The Princess Margaret are working to change these odds and participating in The 11th Journey to Conquer Cancer is a great way to get involved and help to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime.
