TORONTO, September 20, 2022 – Moonhorse Dance Theatre returns to live performance with Older & Reckless – their acclaimed series celebrating mature dance artists – at Harbourfront Centre Theatre for three performances on Friday, November 4 – Saturday, November 5.

Older & Reckless, curated by Artistic Director Claudia Moore, featuring Peter Chin, Nova Bhattacharya, Emilyn Claid, Crazy Smooth, Saxon Fraser and more, will feature a special project, 20/50, featuring twenty acclaimed dancers all over 50 years of age. 20/50, originally scheduled to celebrate O&R’s 20th anniversary in 2020 and was twice postponed due to the pandemic, will be created by award-winning choreographer Peter Chin.

“I intend to co-create with the group a piece that will give us a framework and occasion to make something happen in the world, beyond something that is a representation of an idea, a philosophy, an emotion.” – Peter Chin

The 2022 Older & Reckless program also features 4 legendary dance artists in 3 stunning works. Nova Bhattacharya performs Calm Abiding by José Navas, a contemporary choreographer/dancer born in Venezuela and based in Montreal; Emilyn Claid, from the UK will perform an except of her new solo evening; and urban dance icon, Crazy Smooth, will perform a duet with Saxon Fraser.

Older & Reckless will feature an unprecedented line-up of 26 dance artists who have defined the Canadian dance landscape including Carol Anderson, Julia Aplin, Deepti Gupta, Charmaine Headley, JP Longboat, Learie Mc Nicolls, Claudia Moore, Yvonne Ng, Robin Poitras, Julia Sasso and Sashar Zarif, among others.

Additional programming includes online workshops taking place October 31 – November 4, 2022 led by Margie Gillis OC CQ, Denise Fujiwara, Barbara Diabo and Carol Anderson, plus an in-person Hip Hop for Adults Workshop with Crazy Smooth on November 2, 2022.

Moonhorse is honoured to feature magnificent senior artists of many nations and backgrounds in the return to live performance with Older & Reckless. Older & Reckless, “a gem in the Toronto dance scene” (Michael Crabb, Toronto Star) conceived by Claudia Moore, founder and artistic director of Moonhorse Dance Theatre, is a dance series acclaimed for its celebration of mature dance artists and their tenacious life-long pursuit of physical expression. Appealing not only to a senior audience, but to all generations, Older & Reckless shines a light on those Canadian and international dance artists who continue to pursue their passion and share it as performers, teachers, mentors and advocates for the Arts.
