On Sunday, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to commemorate the passing of Premier Bill Davis, 92, who was Ontario’s 18th Premier, serving from from 1971 to 1985:

“Today, I join all Ontarians in mourning the loss of William Grenville Davis. Premier Davis served this Province with honour and distinction and we are all grateful for his many contributions to our public life.

While his accomplishments as Premier are too many to list, he will be remembered most for the kindness and decency with which he carried himself every day.

On behalf of all Ontarians, I send our thoughts and prayers to the Davis family at this difficult time. I would also like to thank them for sharing Bill Davis with Ontario for so many years.

We are better for it, and he will be deeply missed by all.”
