TORONTO, March 14, 2025 – Calling all Torontonians! National non-profit motionball for Special Olympics registration is now open for the 2025 Marathon of Sport Toronto, presented by Scarborough Toyota, taking place on Saturday, May 24, at York University (Keele Campus). With a fundraising goal of $450,000 net, Marathon of Sport Toronto provides a full day of high-energy activities for young and mature professionals alongside celebrity Special Olympics athletes while raising awareness and funds for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

56 teams competing in various activities

Returning for its 24th year, the flagship event will see 56 teams competing in various activities, including traditional sports such as soccer and basketball and lawn-style games like giant pong. Participants will receive motionball swag, lunch and other refreshments, the opportunity to win prizes, and a ticket to the Marathon of Sport onsite after-party, featuring live music, drinks, and more!

Marathon of Sport Toronto participants can also take the #NoGoodWay pledge, motionball’s campaign to eliminate the negative and casual use of the r-word and promote positivity and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Raising awareness

In addition to raising awareness for Special Olympics, motionball’s Marathon of Sport is a platform for people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more open-minded communities. The funds raised through this year’s Marathon of Sport Toronto will ensure Special Olympics athletes have the resources to stay active and compete in the sports they love at a local and national level.
