Sheraton Centre Toronto reopens and reveals stunning images of its transformation
TORONTO, ON – November 15, 2021 – Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel is now welcoming guests again following the first closure in its nearly 50-year history; having closed to safely and effectively complete the first phase of its extensive transformation. Set to be completed in the first half of 2022, the Sheraton Centre Toronto’s transformation includes a full re-imagining of the hotel’s porte cochère, lobby, pool deck, and 43rd floor Sheraton Club; introduction of new lobby-level collaboration studios and soundproof booths; and upgrade of the food and beverage program; as part of Sheraton’s worldwide transformation unveiling its new design vision.
Now open, the picturesque new Sheraton Club marks the completion of the first phase – and a new chapter for the hotel.
“It’s been a long-awaited transformation and we are thrilled to unveil the first of many new looks to our classic Toronto landmark hotel,” said Tim Reardon, general manager, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. “The reopening of the Sheraton Club brings a fresh take and modern feel to the space with incomparable views of the city. We can’t wait to reveal our new lobby and dining experiences in the coming months to further this unmatched new vision for the Sheraton brand.”
As the most global brand within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio sitting at the heart of communities around the world, Sheraton Centre Toronto boasts Sheraton’s new signature key design elements that aim to create an environment where guests can feel comfortable and at ease, whether working, meeting, or recharging. Drawing on its roots as a community hub for locals and guests at flagship locations globally, the new approach for Sheraton creates an intuitive and holistic experience with places to connect, be productive, and feel part of a larger community. The Toronto location is among the first Sheraton properties in Canada where guests can experience the new vision.
A Re-Envisioned 43rd Floor Club Lounge Now Open
The first phase of the reopening welcomes a new look, experience and service style – with spectacular floor-to-ceiling skyline views – at the hotel’s famous Sheraton Club on the 43rdfloor. The Sheraton Club is a premium space with a welcoming, refined atmosphere – exclusively accessible to Marriott Bonvoy Elite members and any guest that upgrades their stay to access the Club floors. Tasked with giving the penthouse level a completely new look and feel, award-winning international design studio DesignAgency revamped the interior to make the most of the spectacular setting, while creating a memorable place to meet, work and connect over coffee, food and cocktails.
“To reimagine this incredible, exclusive space of such an iconic Toronto hotel was very special. The one-of-a-kind views played a key creative role, and we focused the seating to capture every inch of the expansive vistas,” said Allen Chan, founding partner, DesignAgency. “Every element is designed to make guests feel like they’re at home in a penthouse in the heart of the city.”
The new design pays homage to Toronto with bespoke artwork and accents representative of local history and landmarks, allowing guests to connect to the city on an intimate level. From locally-sourced furniture to photographs of iconic Toronto communities, the space was designed with the city and its guests in mind. In the elevator lobby, a relief map of downtown, rendered in concrete, is overlaid with an abstract laser-cut copper screen inspired by local maple trees – one of several striking art pieces that salute the area’s diverse neighbourhoods and cosmopolitan streets.
Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel’s new Sheraton Club
Purposefully designed for engaging experiences that transition seamlessly with activations from morning to evening, the Sheraton Club provides a personalized service journey that begins with a private check-in. With all-day access, guests will find premium amenities, enhanced connectivity, and updated food and beverage offerings including fresh pastries, hot breakfasts, gourmet coffee and freshly pressed juice from local partner Chasers Fresh Juice in the morning, and then in the evening, a premium blend of spirits and local craft beers as it transforms into a classic cocktail bar.
For those looking for a quiet place to relax or work, on the west side of the Sheraton Club, guests can enjoy additional privacy and a self-serve version of the food and beverage experience or choose to book the space for private social gatherings, mixology classes, food demonstrations or business functions, all overlooking the panoramic skyline views of scenic downtown Toronto, Nathan Phillips Square and the iconic CN Tower.
Toronto’s New Gathering Space
The second phase of the transformation will bring the heart of the new vision to life. A stunning and modernized new lobby re-imagines this shared space as the “Public Square” of the hotel, where people can gather together or be alone amongst others, creating a sense of energy and belonging. The intuitive layout anticipates guests’ needs with thoughtful amenities within an arm’s reach, all set against an inviting backdrop that feels warm and comfortable yet refined.
A Refined New Food & Beverage Experience
Also, set to be unveiled this winter in the second phase of the transformation, the hotel is introducing a completely reimagined food and beverage program with Toronto chef Andre Walker at the helm. Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel will offer new food and beverage outlets, and a transformed banquets and catering experience, indulging the needs of the evolving travel and hospitality landscape while keeping centre stage Sheraton’s philosophy of connecting people and providing meaningful experiences.
An Outdoor Oasis Returns
In the final phase of hotel renovations, Toronto’s largest heated indoor/outdoor pool will return in spring 2022. An urban oasis with a glass wall barrier to swim inside and out in the open air, the pool is surrounded by nature and a spectacular waterfall feature, with the addition of a new deckside event space set to debut.
Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel is following all of Marriott International’s Commitment to Clean protocols, created in partnership with leading experts in food and water safety, hygiene and infection prevention, and hotel operations.
