TORONTO, August 22, 2022 – With rain starting around 9 am, Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement today for the the City of Toronto and York-Durham. Canada’s trusted weather source has issued a warning for heavy rains headed our way today the tune of 30 to 50 mm.
The ECCC statement reads:
Special weather statement in effect for:
- City of Toronto
- York- Durham
Locally heavy rainfall today.
Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms with local rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are expected. Upgrades to Rainfall Warnings may be required.

Meanwhile the Weather Network is reporting that all day and into the evening there will be a risk of thunderstorms and P.O.P. of 90% this afternoon and 80% this evening, although the rainfall is supposed to be significantly less (1 mm) throughout the evening.
On Tuesday, Toronto is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud in the morning withma high of 20°c followed by a mainly sunny afternoon with a high of 27°c for all those CNE-goers.
