TORONTO, September 4, 2025 — It has been quite some time since we posted our last extreme heat warnings but today, Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a special weather statement for the GTA, warning of up to 90 km/h winds headed our way on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Here is the official statement below, but basically, we can expect strong winds to blow through the city late Friday morning and into Friday evening.
Special Weather Statement in effect for:
- City of Toronto
Strong winds expected on Friday.
What: Strong winds with gusts of 70 to 90 km/h possible.
When: Late Friday morning into Friday evening. Additional Information: Strong southwesterly winds will develop late Friday morning as a low pressure system pushes over northeastern Ontario.

Weekend Weather Outlook for Toronto
For Friday, according to ECCC, expect a mix of sun and cloud. 30 percent chance of showers early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Wind becoming southwest 40 km/h gusting to 70 and possibly 90 in the morning. High 25. Humidex 28. UV index 6 or high.
Friday evening is expected to be partly cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers in the evening. Becoming clear overnight. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light near midnight. Low 11.
On Saturday we are expected to see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 21 and an evening low of 11 celsius.
