Are you looking to get out of Toronto for the Christmas holidays? Why not take a trip to Denmark and experience a true European Christmas? Flights from Pearson Airport to Copenhagen Airport range from $600 and onwards, but it’s worth the investment. Denmark offers plenty of memorable events around this time, and we’re going to explore a few of them.

What Can You Do In Denmark At Christmas?

Denmark is a Scandinavian country in Europe that is home to cobbled streets and royal palaces. The country, especially its capital city of Copenhagen, is riddled with history, but Denmark is also very modern. The country has large shopping complexes and a budding gambling industry, much like other Western countries. For example, BonusFinder, a comparison site that only lists trustworthy operations, details the popularity of Denmark’s online gambling sector by looking at platforms and their bonus promotions. At Christmas time, Denmark combines its history and modernism into one, offering a range of events.

Christmas in Tivoli Gardens

One of Denmark’s most visited attractions is Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. It’s the world’s third-oldest operating amusement park after opening in August 1843, and at Christmas time, Tivoli Gardens turns into a winter wonderland. From now until Christmas Day, there are rides, funfairs, and a food court with 14 bars offering traditional Danish holiday meals. If you time your visit right, you may even catch fireworks getting set off at Tivoli Gardens, making the experience even more special.

Hans Christian Andersen Christmas Market

Sure, Toronto has Christmas markets, but they do them a little differently in Europe, and it’s worth checking one off your list. If you’re going to check one off, you may as well make it the Hans Christian Andersen Christmas Market. This market is named after the renowned Danish storyteller who wrote The Little Mermaid. The market has an enchanting atmosphere and offers many festive activities, perfect for getting you in the mood for the year-end holiday.

There are several other Christmas markets to choose from in Denmark, such as the vibrant Odense market, the Nyborg market, and the Egeskov market. The Egeskov market is held in buildings with vintage aircraft and vehicles and offers an outdoor section in stunning gardens overlooking Egeskov Castle. There’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than standing in this fairytale setting.

Royal Copenhagen’s Christmas Tables

Royal Copenhagen is a Danish manufacturer that specializes in porcelain products. Every Christmas, its flagship store opens its doors to the public for a Christmas table exhibition. Since 1963, Royal Copenhagen’s Christmas Tables have become one of Denmark’s main Christmas traditions, but visitors come from across the world. The 2022 theme is “An Enchanted Christmas.”  Toronto at Christmas is beautiful and special, but sometimes, you want to try something new. If you find yourself in this position, consider taking a Christmas holiday to Denmark. Not only will you feel like you’ve stepped back in time walking on cobblestone streets, but you will get to experience a true European Christmas market. That is something everyone should do at least once in their life.
