Union Holiday is back and so is Union Station’s free outdoor ice skating rink this holiday season
The free skating rink outside Union Station is back this year to enjoy throughout the Holiday season. Today, Mayor John Tory, along with Lawrence Zucker, President and CEO of Osmington and Betsey Chung, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer at TD Bank Group, launched Union Holiday – Presented by TD at Union Station.
As part of Union Holiday – Presented by TD, station visitors and patrons will be able to lace up at the free outdoor skating rink at the Front Street plaza from Monday, November 29 until Saturday, January 2. The rink will be open daily Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors can enjoy 45-minute skating sessions by registering online . The rink will close early on December 24 at 5 p.m., and will be closed on December 25 and 26 for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
“Union Station has always been a key destination for thousands of commuters and visitors to Toronto every day. Over the years it has become a vibrant arts and culture hub with events and experiences for all to enjoy,” said Mayor John Tory.
“After a challenging year and a half, I am pleased to see the return of Union Holiday and the many other winter events that make our city so lively. I encourage residents to visit Union Station to experience the skating rink or the many food options right in the heart of our downtown,” added Toronto’s Mayor.
Union Holiday – Presented by TD will be operating safely with careful consideration to the guidelines provided by Toronto Public Health and the Government of Ontario. Masks are required inside the station and will be required for all patrons on the rink.
Everyone is invited to skate for free. Bauer Hockey has donated skates and helmets that will be available for use at no cost. All equipment will be sanitized after each guest’s use. Visitors can also check out the “Beyond the Rink” pop-up by Bauer inside the station, take skating lessons and enjoy free giveaways and special guest appearances throughout December.
While at Union Station, visitors can also shop for the most popular gifts of the season at one of the station’s many retailers, or experience the brand new Foodie Aisle under the Bay Concourse, featuring a selection of market-style food offerings from local chefs.
