Ask most people about where they’d expect to find the world’s most advanced tech companies and they’d probably say places like Silicon Valley, Seoul and maybe even Tokyo. There would be relatively few who would pick out Toronto, but perceptions may be changing. That’s because the city is becoming a far bigger hitter in the field than ever before, even being ranked alongside other North American cities like San Francisco and Seattle for tech talent.
So what is it that’s boosting Toronto’s reputation as a tech hub, and just how far can it take us?
A world-class infrastructure
For any city to operate successfully, it needs to have a world-class infrastructure that ensures life there is easy. As Canada’s largest city, controlled by a stable and democratic government that is determined to support new business, Toronto is ideally placed. The city’s universities are producing more and more high-calibre students graduating ready to make their first moves into the sector. There are highly developed transport networks and first-class healthcare and education systems, all of which make it a very attractive place to live. These are also all reasons why major high-tech businesses like LG, Intel and Microsoft have all opened offices in the city.

A great attitude
Toronto has always been known as a very welcoming and diverse community, both features that declare it fully open for hi-tech business. So it comes as no big surprise that, at the last count, the Toronto-Waterloo corridor was home to no less than 15,000 tech companies, including over 5,000 start-ups. As well as receiving considerable grants from the government, this momentum has meant that venture capitalists are taking a great interest in the area and what it has to offer.
A less tangible feature is the nature of Toronto’s citizens. The people who live here are always keen to embrace the new and the innovative. One only has to look at the popularity of the sorts of online casinos that can be found at Casino Market. These are increasingly popular not just with Torontonians, but throughout the country and the site is a good place to find casinos that come highly recommended. As well as providing reviews of the casinos in question, it also advertises any welcome bonuses currently on offer as well as providing a direct link to start playing.
The sheer quality of life
To a certain extent, the previous two features of the city are what make it such a hi-tech hotspot but there’s also the quality of life that comes from Toronto being reasonably affordable for a city – although prices are rising as more people are attracted by the boom. It’s also one of the most pleasant cities in the world to live in, with fabulous wide open spaces only a little way away.
So it all adds up to a natural home for one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sectors in the world’s economy, and one that is set to go from strength to strength in the future.
