Why Toronto families should move to Hamilton

img

After more than a year of repetitive lockdowns, you might be finding Toronto to be cramped and crowded. Or maybe you have more flexible work options and are looking for a change for your family. With a population of more than 500,000, Hamilton retains all the benefits of city life, but with a friendly, small-town feel that’s perfect for families. Find out why you should consider moving out of Toronto and into Hamilton.

Great neighbourhoods

From Mountview with its fantastic parks and schools to Kirkendall with easy access to Lower Chedoke Falls, Highland Gardens Park, and a portion of the Bruce Trail, there are plenty of beautiful neighbourhoods to raise a family. If you’re not sure where to start, Hamilton real estate agents can help you find the perfect place for you and your family.

Same city exposure

Hamilton’s food and entertainment scenes have been grabbing headlines for years. But what doesn’t make headlines as often is how family-friendly it is. Enjoy Mesa’s relaxed and inviting atmosphere, with their kid-friendly menu with nachos, tacos, burritos, and tamales. For something sweet, try Lina’s European Pastries at the Hamilton Farmers’ Market. Any vegan kids won’t want to miss the cauliflower wings and vegan grilled cheese at Democracy.

Go on a walk to spot the street art and murals around town, or check out some of the public art scattered about the city. With plenty of music halls, cinemas and theatre, you’ll have plenty to do with the kids or on your own for a night out.

Hamilton

More access to parks

Hamilton boasts a thriving city culture while having multiple parks and countless trails and conservation areas within and just outside the city.

You can spend a day on the shore of Lake Ontario at Bayfront Park, a vast green space where you can watch ducks, geese and other birds. Victoria Park in the Strathcona neighbourhood is an excellent place for a picnic, and kids will love the playground and butterfly garden. There’s also a swimming pool, baseball field and tennis courts.

Plenty to keep the kids busy

If you’re worried you won’t have enough things to do to keep the kids entertained, think again. Kids get to learn and play at the Hamilton Children’s Museum, where they can touch, build and experiment in a child-focused and friendly environment.

In the summer, you can escape the heat by taking the kids for a splash at Wild Water Works, where they can cool down in the massive wave pool, float along the eazy river, or zip through a selection of tubes and body slides.

The Royal Botanical Gardens offers 27 kilometres of nature trails and year-round family-friendly holiday-themed events. The Art Gallery of Hamilton runs free monthly kids’ programming, in addition to hand-on art camps during school breaks. There’s also African Lion Safari and Adventure Park. You might want to clear your schedule.

If you are looking for more room to make a home for your kids and pets, living in a spacious place like Hamilton could fulfill that vision while providing vibrant and convenient amenities.
