TORONTO, January 15, 2026 (update) — An Orange warning (upgraded from yellow) has been issued for Toronto and southern Ontario with a significant snowfall expected to begin tonight. Environment and Climate Change Canada has upgraded its expected snow accumulation to 20 to 30 cm of snowfall by late Thursday afternoon.
Get those shovels armed and ready, as the snow will not taper off until Thursday evening, according to ECCC, Canada’s most trusted weather source.

A developing low pressure system will bring significant snowfall to much of southern Ontario. A sharp temperature drop leading to cold wind chills by Thursday morning, during ongoing snowfall, will add to the adverse weather conditions.
There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic on Thursday. Drivers and pedestrians are being advised to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Allow extra time for travel.
