11th Oakville Film Festival features more than 100 documentaries and shorts over 7 days

OAKVILLE, ON, June 7, 2024 – This month, the 2024 Oakville Film Festival (OFFA) will celebrate 11 years as Oakville’s only independent film festival, running from June 19th to 25th, 2024. 

OFFA presents 104 specially curated Canadian, local, and international narrative and documentary films, and short films, over 7 days. OFFA celebrates cinema with GALAS, parties, star appearances, music, and entertainment from the world of film and culture. A selection of films is available online only during the festival. FREE Outdoor family-friendly screening at Towne Square

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, the Festival will kick off with a free family-friendly event featuring an outdoor screening of the popular family comedy “Honey I Shrunk the Kids,” starring Rick Moranis and Marcia Strassman. The event will take place at Towne Square in Oakville from 6 pm to 11 pm and is sponsored by STAPLES and CHCH. No ticket is required for this event.

Canadian premieres

This year, one of the GTHA’s longest-running Film Festivals will feature the Canadian Premiere of Kenyan-Canadian film Kipkemboi (Thursday, June 20th EY Gala), and the Eastern Canadian Premiere of the Indigenous Canadian comedy, The Great Salish Heist (Friday, June 21st Gala for National Indigenous Peoples Day). OFFA’s event Partner Film.Ca Cinemas hosts a full weekend of over 50 films 22 and 23 June.

Industry Summit

The Oakville Film Festival will hold its annual Industry Summit from June 20 to 23, 2024. The event brings together film professionals for three days of learning, networking, film screenings, awards, and social events. A Staples networking Brunch on Thursday, 20th June, opens the summit, followed by a full day of moderated panels on Friday, 21 June, hosted by established industry professionals, focused on the intricacies of film financing for emerging and intermediate-level filmmakers. This year’s theme is “It Takes a Village: Financing Your Film.” The Juried Award Ceremony closes the summit at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Saturday, 22 June.
