Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos stepping down and announces new CEO

Jeff Bezos stepping down – The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos has decided to throw in the towel as CEO. Bezos, 57, has been CEO since he started the company with his ex-wife almost 30 years ago.

The divorce cost the richest man in the world $150 billion.

The announcement comes as Amazon has reported a third consecutive record profit and quarterly sales in excess of $100 billion for the first time.

Amazon released a statement that the new CEO replacing Jeff Bezos will be Andy Jassy, 53, who has been running Amazon’s cloud-computing business. Jassy attended Harvard Business School, before joining Amazon in 1997 and founding Amazon Web Services (AWS). Jassy evolved it into a cloud platform used by millions.

Jeff Bezos will stay on as Amazon’s executive chairman when Jassy begins his new role as CEO in the Fall of 2021.

Amazon started off selling books online and has turned into the largest seller of almost anything in the world. Bezos making his websites one of the easiest to navigate and hassle free to order a product with distribution all over the world.
