BOUKAN celebrates Grand Re-opening on Toronto’s Danforth

Two Toronto Black-owned businesses, ‘Boukan’ and ‘Edible Bliss 11’, merge to create a new, larger Haitian-Caribbean fusion restaurant, opening on the Danforth

TORONTO, Sept. 1, 2022Local Haitian restaurant, Boukan, is hosting a grand re-opening event tonight, September 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., to celebrate the move from their former 12-seat Upper Beaches location to a larger space in the Danforth area (774 Danforth Avenue). The new restaurant seats more than 85 people inside and on their outdoor patio.

“Despite opening only a few months prior to the pandemic, we have been able to build a loyal community and significantly grow our business,” says Boukan head chef and co-owner, Amir Senat. “This is a monumental moment for the whole team and we’re thrilled to be collaborating with Chef Amanda.”

Their menu will be merged with Edible Bliss 11, another Black-owned small business created by Chef Amanda Hamer, to offer a brand-new unique Haitian-Caribbean fusion menu. Notable additions to the menu include spicy mango phyllo bites, chictay plantain bowls, and Caribbean fusion chicken and waffles.

Boukan’s new menu merges with Edible Bliss 11, another Black-owned small business created by Chef Amanda Hamer, to offer a brand-new unique Haitian-Caribbean fusion menu that includes: spicy mango phyllo bites, chictay plantain bowls, and Caribbean fusion chicken and waffles.

The event, hosted by local personality, L.A. Wade, includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres introducing their new menu, a variety of unique photo opportunities, and live entertainment featuring African drumming and art performances by local Black artists including Ren Thomas and Shane Stephens.
