Toronto, ON., May 19, 2021 – Garbage have today revealed their brand-new single Wolves and its accompanying video, made by Chilean film director, animator and painter Javi.MiAmor.

Wolves is the follow up to the album’s title track No Gods No Masters, which has already had great radio support, as well as strong playlist support from Spotify (New Music Friday, Rock The World! All New Rock, Weekly Buzz) and Apple Music (New In Alternative, Rock Best New Songs, New In Rock, New In Indie) and was described as ‘Excellent’ by Kerrang! and ‘visceral and blood-thirsty’ by Clash.

Speaking about the angularly powerful, hook-driven “Wolves,” Shirley Manson says:

“This song reminds me of my younger self, when there were two sides to my personality. I hurt so many people in my life, both knowingly and unknowingly, I’m sure. But when you’re young and in self-survival mode, much like a baby rattlesnake, you have no idea how strong your venom is. But it has the power to kill. You’re just out there having fun… This is the pop song off the record.”

Produced by Garbage and long-time collaborator Billy Bush, the seeds for the new album, No Gods No Masters were planted in summer 2018 in the desert in Palm Springs. The quartet convened at a home belonging to one of Steve Marker’s relatives and sketched out the skeleton of the album over two weeks, jamming, experimenting and feeling the songs out. They then took those demos and went their separate ways, before reconvening in Los Angeles to finish the record.

Garbage are releasing a deluxe CD/digital version of No Gods No Masters, which features covers of classic tracks, including David Bowie’s “Starman” and “Because the Night,” written by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen. Garbage’s take on “Because the Night” also features US punk rock outfit Screaming Females.

The deluxe album includes rare Garbage tracks “No Horses,” “On Fire,” “Time Will Destroy Everything,” “Girls Talk,” “The Chemicals” and “Destroying Angels,” the latter three of which feature Brody Dalle, Brian Aubert and John Doe and Exene Cervenka respectively.

The album vinyl is neon green as standard with Garbage also releasing a limited white vinyl via their official artist store and HMV, as well as an exclusive limited pink vinyl as part of this year’s RSD Drops on June 12. Garbage are slated to open their North American tour schedule on Toronto’s Budweiser Stage this July 10, 2021 along with two other popular rockers from the 90s, Alanis Moressette and Liz Phair. Whether the concerts are gowing ahead remains to be seen. The band will be touring the UK with Blondie this November. Full dates listed here.

Garbage’s new single “Wolves” is out now. The band’s new album is available to pre-order.
