COLLINGWOOD, Ontario, September 18, 2026. A Google Business Profile listing for a plumbing service in Collingwood, Ontario held zero reviews on 22 August 2026. On 17 September 2026 the same listing held 65 reviews at a 5.0 average rating, and it ranked first in the Google Maps results for plumbers in the town, ahead of every established plumbing company there.
The movement was recorded by Georgian Bay SEO, a local search company in Collingwood, in its September 2026 Collingwood review update. The company re-reads the same 22 service categories each month and compares the results against the previous pull, matched on each business’s Google place ID.
Across the 290 established businesses present in both pulls, the town added 144 Google reviews in 26 days, a rise of 0.9 percent. Eighty-two of those businesses gained at least one review. One hundred and ninety-five stayed flat and 13 recorded a lower count than in August. The ten fastest businesses took 128 of the 144 reviews. The fastest established business in Collingwood added 20.
What the company recorded about the listing

On the 22 August pull the listing sat eighth in the plumber results. On the 17 September pull it ranked first, and it also appeared in the results for appliance repair, electricians and heating and cooling. Its telephone number carries a Toronto area code. Its website is a page inside a shared domain rather than a site of its own.
Georgian Bay SEO reports the movement as a measurement and states no cause for it. The listing is excluded from the company’s published growth table, because the monthly panel counts only businesses that held at least one review in the earlier pull.
“A listing with no review history reached first place in the plumber results in 26 days,” said Lasse Pettersen, founder of Georgian Bay SEO. “We measured the movement and we are not going to guess at its cause. What a business owner should take from it is that Google Maps reads review volume and recency as signals of a live business, and that it acted on both inside four weeks.”
Review growth in the town is concentrated

The monthly figures match the pattern in the company’s Collingwood Review Index 2026 an annual study of 348 service businesses holding 18,396 Google reviews across 22 categories. In that study the median Collingwood service business holds 15 reviews, and the top 10 percent of businesses hold 10,156 reviews, or 55 percent of the town’s total.
The median gain among the businesses that moved between the two 2026 pulls was two reviews.

“The median business that gained anything gained two reviews,” Pettersen said. “A business that asks after every finished job and lands four a month passes the town median inside four months.”
Method

Georgian Bay SEO collects Google Maps results for 22 service categories as a searcher in Collingwood sees them, and records each business’s review count, average rating, position, address and telephone number. Three collection rules decide which listings count as Collingwood businesses: a listing that publishes an address must publish a Collingwood address, a listing without an address must answer on an Ontario or toll-free number, and Google’s category data is used to drop retail counters, dealership service desks and storage facilities that surface in trade searches.
Month-to-month comparisons use a fixed panel rather than the town totals. A listing that appears in one pull and not the other counts as neither growth nor loss, because that is a change in what Google returned rather than a change in the business. The company states that sweep totals are not comparable between months for the same reason.
