TORONTO, June 12, 2026 — It is back up now at 10:45 pm EST but if you are unable to access Facebook earlier, you are not the only one. Tens of thousands of people were taking to other social media platforms to ask if Facebook is down or if they have been hacked but now can rest assured that Facebook has actually went down. The outage was widespread with reports of sudden logouts and blank Facebook feeds rolling in from countries around the world, including Canada, the United States, the Middle East, the UK, and Asia.
As of 9:30 am Friday, June 12, 2026, Meta’s global social media app had been inaccessible but is now back up and running just over an hour later. Meta has yet to release a statement as to why the worldwide outage occurred.
