TORONTO, ON, Oct. 4, 2021 – As of approximately 11:30 am on Monday, October 4, 2021 Facebook, Instagram and What’s App have gone down with technical difficulties. Instagram failure messages say “Couldn’t Refresh Feed,” while on Facebook’s website, an error message late Monday morning said, “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”

Meanwhile, social media monitoring service Down Detector is reporting a huge spike in complaints in several countries about the three apps going down starting between 11:40 am and 12:00 pm.

App users across several countries including Greece, Mexico, Canada and the US are taking to Twitter to express their frustrations and criticisms, while the social media giant as of yet ) noon Monday, has not posted any reasons for going down.

When widely used apps like these ones go down, it affects people’s livelihoods, and has users searching for answers, as well as wasting time troubleshooting their devices before looking for answers online. Some people have posted to twitter that they have taken numerous measures including uninstalling and reinstalling the apps.

The three platforms have now been down for close to an hour with no statement released from the social media giant as to the cause, aside from “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
