First Crankworx Summer Series is happening in Québec City Sept. 1-5

QUÉBEC CITY, August 24 2022 – The Québec City region is gaining ground rapidly in hosting major mountain bike events, with the first of the Crankworx Summers Series – Québec City being held Thursday through Monday, September 1 to the 5. Each of the region’s five go-to mountain bike centres is hosting one day of competition: Empire 47, Mont-Sainte-Anne, Le Massif de Charlevoix, Sentiers du Moulin and Vallée Bras-du-Nord.From Whistler, Crankworx is one of the world’s top MB events and its presence in Québec gives its local riders an opportunity to shine on the world stage, while spectators are treated to a great time and endless thrills!

SPRINGBOARD TOWARDS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS

Winners of three of the five-day events move up to top-tier international competitions.

Sept. 1| Empire 47 | Qualifiers for the Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships: This is a chance to ride or attend Eastern Canada’s Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships qualifiers (the only UCI sanctioned race event). Men and women winners will win an all-expenses paid trip to compete at this world championship in Chile.

Sept. 3 & Sept. 5 | Vallée Bras-du-Nord (VBN) & Mont-Sainte-Anne (MSA): Winners of the Air Downhill (VBN) and Dual Slalom (MSA) win a spot on the prestigious 2023 Whistler Crankworx World Tour, in the same discipline and category as their 2022 win, here in Québec. Earning a spot at this next-level international competition would be a dream come true for several Québec athletes.

SENTIERS DU MOULIN: OFFICIAL EVENT VILLAGE

The official Sentiers du Moulin race day is Friday September 2 with the Slopestyle event (jumps and obstacles course, bronze event on the FMB Word Tour circuit) − always a huge crowd pleaser. Sentiers du Moulin is also the nerve center of the event from September 1 to 4, as it hosts a lively village showcasing industry exhibitors, pop-up shops and more, as well as special amateur and family events.

Le Massif de Charlevoix on September 4

While Sunday is a day of R&R for adults, kids ages 6 to 12 set out to surpass themselves. Clinics on basic ride positions, braking and balance are offered free of charge, as well as friendly skills contests. A live DJ followed by the band Fuso from 4 to 6 pm are sure to make the MB après party a huge success!

• Open and flexible registration (no obligation to ride a minimum number of days/events)
• Free admission to festivities and competitions for spectators
