Heavy Snowfall Warning issued for Toronto
TORONTO, ON., February 26, 2020– The forecast for today’s storm has been updated by Environment Canada from its original Special Weather Statement to a Heavy Snowfall Warning for late today and tonight.
Snow is expected to continue today and will become progressively heavier this afternoon and into the night. Heavy snow will continue through tonight before tapering to a few flurries Thursday morning.
Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are now expected by Thursday morning. The original prediction was 10 to 15 cm but Environment Canada is saying those numbers may be going up.
Additionally, Toronto could see more snow arriving Friday as “strong snow squalls with heavy snow and blowing snow are expected to develop Thursday afternoon east of Lake Huron and may extend into the Golden Horseshoe. These snow squalls will likely continue through Friday.”
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.
