How BTS conquered the world

There is no denying that BTS is the most famous K-pop band in the world! They really took the genre to new heights, selling more than 32 million albums. But, how did J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Suga and V take over the world?

Hard work and dedication

It may feel like BTS only recently popped onto the scene, but that could not be further from the truth. In fact, the band members first got together in 2010, even though BTS did not officially launch until 2013. That shows just how much preparation went into this!

The first time that the public was introduced to the seven stars was toward the end of 2012, when a collection of clips were released, showing them rapping in both English and Korean.

They released their first single No More Dream. The rest was not history, as the saying goes. The journey was only just beginning, and they needed to alter their approach to reach stardom. However, between the years 2013 and 2017, their popularity really grew in their home country of South Korea.

One of the reasons why they were able to reach many more fans in South Korea and ultimately around the world is because they decided to be more open with their tracks. This was evident in tracks like Dope and I Need U.

On the international stage, it was in 2017 that they really experienced a breakthrough. Their album Wings was repackaged to You Never Walk Alone. Now, America was paying attention! They became the first K-pop group to perform at the American Music Awards, and they have been breaking records ever since.

Adored worldwide; BTS on tour

BTS now have fans all over the world. In fact, in the UK, they are the third most expensive band to be a superfan of, which says a lot considering they have only done six shows in the UK over the past five years.

This is something that was recently revealed in Betway’s Cost of Being a Music Superfan report:

“The beloved boyband BTS takes the title of having the third most expensive UK tour. This is because it would have cost a superfan the sum of  £4,073.64 to have seen them live at the mere six shows they have performed in the UK in the last five years.

“Despite BTS not having toured the UK many times, the massive price tag is unsurprising, with resale tickets to see the band costing a whopping £678.94.”

BTS is going on a hiatus, but it’s not the end!

A lot of BTS fans were recently devastated to find out that the band is going on a break. After 12 exhilarating years as a band, they have decided that they need a little bit of time apart to find themselves again and work on some solo projects. However, they have been very quick to reassure everyone that this is not the end forever. They will reunite one day. Phew!
