Lake Shore streetcar service has resumed, TTC completes streetcar power network repairs at King and Spadina
TORONTO, December 20, 2024 – TTC crews have completed repairs at King and Spadina, and 504 King and 508 Lake Shore streetcar service has resumed regular routing. 510 Spadina buses will return to regular routing after the intersection is de-iced this morning.
TTC CEO Greg Percy has released the following statement:
“After working day and night for the past three days, TTC crews have completed extensive repairs at the intersection of King St. and Spadina Ave., which means it can reopen for streetcar service.
“I want to thank everyone for their tireless efforts to complete this work quickly and safely. I also want to thank our customers for their patience during the closure,” said Percy.
The power lines that were taken out when a garbage truck collided with them had a complex intersection of multiple intertwining cables and connectors supported by multiple poles.
Before the repairs could take place, the entire infrastructure had first to be inspected to determine the extent of the damage.
Percy said that once the inspection was complete, crews had to re-string the cables and restore power.
With this work complete, the 504 King and 508 Lake Shore streetcar service has now resumed along King St.
“I want to recognize everyone’s hard work and dedication to getting this done.,” said Percy.
