Large police presence at Pearson Terminal 1 due to officer involved shooting, no threat to public safety

TORONTO, April 24, 2025 – There is a large police and emergency vehicle presence outside Pearson Terminal 1 departures area this morning (April 24, 2025) due to an officer involved shooting that took place at approximately 7:00 AM.

Peel Police issued a brief statement on ‘X’ to declare that an adult male was shot and there is no risk to public safety.

According to CP24 several shots were fired by three officers involved in the shooting. no offers were injured in the incident. SIU has been called in to investigate.

UPDATE

CP24 reports that a 30-year old adult male in distress was shot and killed at the scene. Peel Police are looking at surveillance video, talking to witnesses and asking for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Passengers and vehicles asked to enter and exit through arrivals zone

Toronto Pearson says passengers and vehicles heading to Terminal 1 are being told to enter and exit through the arrivals level.

As of 9 am, the departure zone is still cordoned off to all visitors but flights are on schedule. At this time police are asking anyone has information or camera footage to please contact Peel Police.
