No Barrie GO Train service again this weekend, buses running instead

TORONTO, October 23, 2024 – Starting this Friday, Oct. 25 after 10 p.m. until Sunday, Oct. 27, there will be no GO train service on the Barrie line. Metrolinx assures customers that replacement buses will run between Highway 407 Bus Terminal and Barrie Bus Terminal.

The rail service closures are to facilitate the installation and maintenance of culverts to allow for a second track on the Barrie line to be installed.

Replacement GO buses serving all regular train stops with two exceptions:

  • from Friday at 10 p.m. through Sunday, replacement buses will not stop at Downsview GO; and
  • on Saturday and Sunday, replacement buses will not stop at the Union Station Bus Terminal

Union Station or Downsview Park GO?

Customers travelling to or from Union Station or Downsview Park GO can connect at Highway 407 Station via TTC Line 1 (Yonge-University).

More frequent service coming

GO service is expanding to serve you better, with more frequent service, more stations, cleaner technology and more connections. We are transforming GO Transit to bring frequent two-way, all-day service to the Barrie Line, as well as access to new stations and transit connections.

Riders can transfer for free with One Fare between GO Transit, TTC and YRT. Customers are encouraged to use gotransit.com or triplinx.ca to plan their trips. You can also check the GO Transit Service Updates page for real-time details.
