TORONTO, Sept. 7, 2022 – While not one of the headliners, legendary Hamilton punk band Teenage Head will be the sentimental favourite for many, when the seventh annual Kerrfest returns this Thursday through Sunday September 8-11 in Westwood Park, 173 Kerr St., in Oakville.

Their 4 p.m. appearance on Saturday marks the final date of their 2022 tour, coming shortly after the devastating death of founding lead guitarist Gord Lewis, who was found dead in his Hamilton apartment on August 7.

In a social media post, the group said it laboured over the decision to play its final three tour dates, but that they wanted to, “honour their fallen brother, and to start the process of healing.”

“Gordie wanted his music heard, and wanted it to live on,” the statement read.

They’ll be sure to play such staples as “Let’s Shake”, and “Something On My Mind”.

Beginning at 12:30 p.m., Saturday’s lineup also includes 3 Best Friends, Classic Rock Live, Mississippi Bends, The Accolades, Bill Durst, The Box from Montreal and Vancouver-based headliners 54-40 (at 9:30), who will render such Canadian radio standards as “I Go Blind”, “Ocean Pearl”, and “Since When”.

54-40 – American Fly

The festival kicks off on Thursday with Eclectic Revival, The Cooper Brothers, Haywire, and headliners Chiliwack at 9:15 – responsible for such ‘70’s Top 40 U.S. pop hits as My Girl (Gone Gone Gone), I Believe, and Crazy Talk.

Friday will be “East Coast Night”, featuring The Jimmy Flynn Music & Comedy Show, and such hit-makers as The Irish Descendants, Jimmy Rankin, and headliners The Trews (who have opened for the likes of Weezer, the Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen).

General admission tickets are $10 per day, and must be purchased online in advance at kerrfest.ca.

On Sunday, the festival closes out with Kerrfest Kids, featuring musical entertainers, a market and food stalls. It runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but you must register online in advance.
