The Glorious Sons to Rock the Track at the Inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham

Rev your engines and warm up your vocal cords as Markham’s brand-new Indy street race is bringing the noise both on and off the track this month.

Okay, perhaps noise is the wrong way to describe Kingston’s rock powerhouse The Glorious Sons, who will take the SiriusXM Stage on Saturday, August 15, as part of the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. The Kingston-based, multiple JUNO Award-winning band is set to perform around 6:20 p.m., right after the NASCAR Canada Series race wraps up qualifying day for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

A Weekend of Racing — and a Free Concert

Here’s the best part: the concert is included with your race ticket. Whether you grab a 2-Day General Admission pass ($90) or a Saturday Single Day ticket ($50), you’re covered for the show, which takes place in the 407 ETR Thunder Alley. Limited reserved Grandstand seats are also still up for grabs if you want a great view of the 12-turn, 3.52-kilometre temporary street circuit.

Event president Jeff Atkinson called it a can’t-miss value for race fans, noting that a standard Saturday ticket gets you four races, INDYCAR qualifying, and a full concert — making the full weekend pass an even better deal for anyone who wants to catch everything.

Who Are The Glorious Sons?

Formed in 2011, The Glorious Sons have built a serious résumé and fan base with two EPs, four full-length albums, and record certifications including Platinum (“Young Beauties and Fools”) and Gold (“The Union” and “A War On Everything”). With more than 450 million global streams, the band’s catalogue includes fan favourites like “S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun),” “Everything Is Alright,” “Heavy,” “Panic Attack,” “Mama,” “My Poor Heart,” and “Kill The Lights.

Their tunes are so contagious that audiences can’t help but sing along with passion just minutes into their sets.

They’ve shared stages with The Rolling Stones, Nickelback, and Pearl Jam, and headlined major festivals including Ottawa Bluesfest and Elora Riverfest — earning a reputation the Washington Times once dubbed “Canada’s Best Export.”

What Else Is Happening That Weekend

The concert is just one piece of a jam-packed festival weekend in Markham:

  • Saturday, Aug. 15 — NASCAR Canada Series race, INDYCAR qualifying, and the SiriusXM concert
  • Sunday, Aug. 16 — The debut NTT INDYCAR SERIES race in Markham
  • Double-header races throughout the weekend from USF Pro 2000, USF2000, and the Emzone Radical Cup Canada

In total, fans can expect five racing series across eight races over the course of the festival.
