Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Genesis, Grateful Dead and others posting full concerts on YouTube

TORONTO, ON., APRIL 14, 2020 – Many of your favourite bands will be streaming full concerts on their YouTube channels this month. As a musicians around the world are unable to tour during the COVID-19 pandemic, several popular acts have been and will be posting past concerts so fans can enjoy while being cooped up in their homes.

Pink Floyd will be kicking things off this Friday April 17, by releasing the Pulse concert at Earls Court in London in full. The Grateful Dead, Radiohead, and Genesis will also be releasing full concerts for people to enjoy at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Alt rockers The National and heavy metal masters, Metallica will also be streaming concerts on YouTube over the next month.

England’s iconic alt rockers Radiohead, already got things started on April 9 with their Dublin concert from 2000 “Live from a Tent in Dublin” and according to their social media posts they will be posting one concert each week during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thom Yorke and the band said, “Now that you have no choice whether or not you fancy a quiet night in, we hereby present the first of several weekly live shows coming to Radiohead’s @YouTube channel.”

Meanwhile, American beauties, the Grateful Dead launched their first stream on Friday, April 10 featuring a concert at Buffalo’s Rich Stadium from 1989. The Dead promoted it on Twitter saying, “We’re taking Shakedown Street to a stream THIS Friday, April 10th, with a live screening of the classic TRUCKIN’ UP TO BUFFALO 7/4/89.” Every Friday will feature a live concert by one of America’s all-time greatest rock and roll jam bands. No band in the history of music has played more concerts to more fans. For many fans the Grateful Dead are a way of life… oh and peace love and understanding – something we all need to have during these dark times.

And not unlike the Grateful Dead summoning past concerts, storied prog rock band Genesis who had announced a “The Last Domino Tour” in early March – before the coronavirus sidelined anything and everything in its path including all concert tours – announced they would be streaming a concert on YouTube April 18th.

The two-month UK leg of the Genesis tour is up on their website and they plan on playing the November through December dates. The lineup purports to be Phil Collins on vocals joined on stage by Tony Banks on keys and Mike Rutherford playing the bass, with Collins’ son, Nic, on drums along with versatile guitarist and bassist Daryl Stuermer.

Genesis will present their first concert film on their official channel on April 18th featuring footage from the Abacab-tour. Four additional films will follow on a weekly basis. It is possible that Genesis will just be releasing the concert films that diehard fans alread know Possible viewings may include: Three Sides Live, The Mama Tour, The Invisible Tour, The Way We Walk and When In Rome.

Both The National and Metallica will be streaming concerts on Monday nights. Metallica shows will go up at 8 pm.

Some of the concert streams have opportunities to donate to COVID-19 related support networks and charities. The National have a gofundme opportunity to help support their crew. The band’s youtube channel leads with this statement. “Our crew are the lifeblood of our touring operation and have become family through the many years we’ve worked together. As uncertainty looms over the state of the live concert industry, we will direct all profits from merch sales through our webstore, new Cherry Tree enrollments, and sales from the Cherry Tree members-only store to support our crew members throughout this crisis to the best of our ability.”
